There are many types of cannons in Tradelands. Some of the cannons are used for battle and some more for looks. For a longer range and lesser lob arc, the Mortar is recommended.
Opening a treasure chest has a 2% chance of rewarding a pirate cannon, having the rarity of 'legendary'. The pirate cannon can launch the player to the direction that the cannon faces when fired. When sprinting, the cannon can launch the player a further distance.
NOTE: In ship to ship combat your cannons can be blasted off and disabled. If this happens you will be unable to operate and fire the disabled gun until you respawn your ship. For long range attacks. Less poundage per size.

Gameplay. Tradelands is a naval game that focuses its gameplay on owning ships that players can travel, trade, and fight with them. Tradelands also offers PVP, material gathering, crafting, pirating, naval battles, and various other activities.
Factions can even destroy, annex, or conquer other factions. One good example includes the Verdantine Sovereignty, which was playable before they got annexed by a faction known as the Verner Expedition. Players in Verdantine would have their home island swapped and level experience transfer to Hallengard.
None of their roleplay is scripted and receives its outcome from the players. Anything that happens in roleplay stays in the roleplay. For example, if a faction invades an island, it remains for everyone to see. Factions can even destroy, annex, or conquer other factions.

Emeralds are only obtainable at non-spawn islands (Freeport, Fenwick, Perth), using a gold or gem pick. Since they are rarer than gold, emerald picks have a greater chance of getting sapphires than gold picks do.
Sapphires are the rarest gems in Tradelands. They are obtained like any other gem, with a gold or gem pick. Unlike the other gems though, sapphires have an extra use: They can be used, along with angelwood, to craft a pick that allows a player to mine for Electrosteel (more on that later).
Ash has no special use other than general crafting. Cherry is the sixth most common wood, and is obtained at any island with an iron axe or better. Ironwood is the seventh most common wood in Tradelands, and is obtained at any island, with an iron pick or better.
Mahogany is the second most common wood. Obtained with an iron axe or better, it can be chopped at any island. Like copper, it has a secondary use after crafting. It is used to buy 'furniture', the special cargo at Whitecrest. Elm, the third most common wood, is obtained at any island, with an iron or better axe.
Oak is the most common wood in Tradelands. It can be obtained with any axe, at any island, though a stone axe only gives oak. Most tools are made using oak, along with many weapons and some ships, especially at the lower levels.
Like Grimewood, Angelwood can only be obtained with a gold axe at a non-spawn island. Unlike Grimewood and bloodoak, however, Angelwood does have a special property: When crafted into a pick with sapphires, it allows a player to craft a pick that allows a player to mine for Electrosteel.
