KeyboardMouse | Traditional Roblox controls using W A S D or the arrow keys to move and Space to jump. |
My enter key is broken and I have remapped it to right Control but it doesn't work in game and instead adds a space within the chat area instead of sending the message. I've remapped all my keys using AutoHotkey, since, as far as I know, it's not possible to remap them in game.
So, how do you get things done in Roblox? To move, use the WASD keys. To move the camera, press RMB and spin the mouse. Also, leap using space and fire with LMB. The remainder of the keybinds are determined by the game’s administrator. The controls are listed below the game’s description.
Roblox uses the same controls as other PC games. W, A, S, and D control regular movement; Spacebar controls jumping; and the number keys (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0) control inventory swapping. Other keys are determined by the game’s administrator. Depending on the game’s genre, the administrator may choose any keys.

To move the player's character, the player should press the WASD keys to start walking about or use the arrow keys, although the left and right arrow keys move the camera left or right, respectively, and the up and down arrow keys move the player forward or backward relative to the camera.
Another advantage of WASD is that it allows the user to use the left hand thumb to press the space bar (often the jump command) and the left hand little finger to press the Ctrl or ⇧ Shift keys (often the crouch and/or sprint commands), as opposed to the arrow keys which lack other keys in proximity to press.

If you’re not sure which button relates to which action, keyboard and mouse mappings may help. While game administrators may only modify other keyboard controls, certain controls are permanent and cannot be changed.
Roblox Studio is required to customize any controls in Roblox. This is a modification that can only be made by the game’s administrators. The game controls cannot be changed in-game.
If you’ve become used to Roblox, it’s much simpler to utilize controls. However, getting used to the controls may be difficult for newcomers. This tutorial is intended for total novices who are unfamiliar with the Roblox controls. I’m hoping Roblox provides a tutorial for new Roblox users.
If you merely want to remap one key to another, SharpKeys is a simple, open-source program that uses the Windows registry. As an example, I use SharpKeys to make my Alt key act as the Ctrl key, and my Caps Lock act as the Windows key.
If your keyboard comes with advanced software, like Logitech's Gaming Software , Corsair's iCUE, or Razer's Synapse, you may have some key-remapping features already present on your system.
If neither of the above options suit your needs, you can create powerful hotkeys with AutoHotkey, a free program that comes with its own little scripting language for you to describe the actions you want your hotkeys to take.
You can customize keybinds in Studio under File > Advanced > Customize Shorcuts. Once the customization window pops up, you can set a keybind by selecting the row of the action you want to map to a keybind and double-clicking the entry in the shortcut column. Once you do that, you can press a key to set the keybind, ...

AutoHotkey is a very useful tool (sadly Windows-only) that allows you to do all sorts of stuff with input. We’ll be using it to re-route key presses for keys/buttons Studio doesn’t support to keys it does support, effectively allowing us to use the unsupported keys for keybinds.
AHK scripts can be edited in any text editor, but usage of Notepad is strongly discouraged as it isn’t tailored for programming. Notepad++ ( < download >, download the Installer version) or sciTE ( < download >, download the installer version) are what I suggest you use, and usage of both will be covered in this tutorial.
