You may find the “can’t resolve hostname” or “temporary failure in name resolution” error when using retrieval command like wget, cURL, ping or nslookup. There are many reasons why these commands can cause an error, including file corruption.
You’ll sometimes see an error telling you that ssh couldn’t resolve a hostname when you attempt to use it. If you’re getting this error, then you should first make sure that you’re connected to the network. Users of any type of wireless networking will also want to make sure that they’re getting enough of a signal to complete the request.
Method 1: Resolving Malformed Hostname Commands Assuming you didn’t make a mistake like typing s sh or ss h instead of ssh, then you might have malformed the hostname command. The software expects commands given as ssh user@NAME instead of some other format. Open up a terminal with the appropriate privileges for your command.
First reboot your computer and try to play. Sometimes this may be all that is needed to solve Roblox or Roblox Studio related problems. Even if you don't use Internet Explorer, resetting the Internet options through this browser may still resolve your issue.

Any sort of damage to the file can also cause hostname problems, and ssh will sometimes offer the same warnings for these types of errors that it would offer for anything else. You’ll need root access to open the hosts file. If you’re working on one of the terminals from above, then you can type sudo nano or to open the file for editing.
Are you setting a default region? The examples may not work without specifying an explicit region argument in every call, or setting the default region to us-east-1.
Still no luck, even with updated curl package. `> s3save (test, bucket = "hadoopdatapipe/dm/dm-test/", object = "dm-test3.Rdata") Error in curl::curl_fetch_memory (url, handle = handle) : Couldn't resolve host name
Do you get that error only with that bucket or in general? Bucket name with /s in them are probably not a good idea, if you can avoid them.
I'm closing this issue as I was able to get connected to s3 & read in bucket names, etc.
Hi @inquotes @leeper @rmenke-prosper could you please share how you have worked around this problem? I am having the same issue. Thanks
A few players suggest that you will fix the ‘Can’t resolve hostname’ error by disabling the Windows Firewall for Minecraft.
Some people recommend changing the DNS server address for your network to fix the ‘Can’t resolve hostname’ error. The DNS server is set by default to pick an address automatically, so you have to change that from the Settings.
