In most situations, 32GB of RAM can be considered overkill, but this is not always true. There are situations where 32GB is an appropriate amount to have. It is also a good way to futureproof your PC as requirements increase with time.
ROBLOX mainly uses the CPU, because it was made that way.
At a bare minimum, you should have 8GB of RAM so you don't run into bottlenecks, especially because your OS and other applications that you have opened, such as your browser, don't limit your development experience. We recommend 16GB for most use-cases and 32GB if you work on more complex games and apps.

Roblox's minimum requirements are 2005 and newer cpu with 1 GB ram and a DX9 capable gpu. You wouldn't believe how unplayable it is on a laptop with very similar hardware to that. Even the most basic games on the lowest graphics is still unplayable. They haven't changed their system requirements in like forever. Not even once. And note that "2005 and newer" means Core Duo, Core 2 Duo and AMD Athlon 64 are the minimum which are considered vintage cpus at this time. Even Celerons from 2014 and older are also somewhat unplayable and who the heck still has 1 GB of ram on their main machine in 2020? Roblox needs at least 7th Gen Core i5, 4 GB ram and an HD 620 to run properly. Not on the highest settings though but you will be satisfied with Lowest-Medium. At worst, when someone's laptop breaks, they are quick to blame Roblox when in reality, the laptop isn't capable for mild Roblox gaming. That's why even for Roblox, a gaming laptop is advisable. Even the cheapest Ryzen 5/Core i5 with GTX 1050/1650 won't disappoint you with it's performance in Roblox.
