Steps to Enable Voice Chat in Roblox
How to Enable Voice Chat in Roblox
Spatial voice chat is nothing new as it can be heard a lot in games like Among Us and Sea of Thieves. The team at Roblox wanted to tackle the issue of children’s’ safety by requiring players to be the minimum age of 18 in order to use the spatial voice chat function.
Yes, voice chat is coming to Roblox. It was confirmed that voice chat is coming to Roblox during the studio’s Investor Day meeting on February 26th, but the feature has reportedly been in development since 2019.
Users can join group chats and while it has some filters, predators still try to find ways around these to prey on young children. There have been reports about adults pretending to be children, attempting to groom young players and encouraging them chat privately away from the game.
Note: All Roblox users must be age 18 or over to enable voice chat. Users must also verify their age by uploading Photo ID to a portal provided by Roblox. If users do not meet either of these requirements, all voice chat features will most likely be disabled and restricted from their account. Check out our Roblox Voice Chat Guide for more detailed explanations concerning these requirements.
With these steps completed, users with voice chat enabled should be able to communicate with each other in most Roblox experiences.
