System Hardware requirements Graphics Card: Roblox requires DirectX 9 or later and Shader Model 2.0. For the best performance, we recommend either a computer less than 14 years old with a dedicated video card or a laptop less than 12 years old with an integrated video card. (To get 60 FPS, get an AMD Radeon R9 255 2GB or equivalent and above)
Graphics Card: On PC/Windows, the Roblox application requires DirectX 10 or higher feature level support. For the best performance we recommend either a computer less than 5 years old with a dedicated video card, or a laptop less than 3 years old with an integrated video card.
I know that this worked before back in 2014. You could easily go to the studio options and change the graphics mode to directx 9. Now it doesn't work anymore as does the anti aliasing.
PC/Windows: Roblox will install on Windows XP; however, for optimal performance, we recommend Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 10. For Windows 8/8.1 you will need to run Roblox in Desktop Mode, as Metro Mode (the tiled start-screen) is not currently supported.
To check your supported DirectX feature level: Hit Windows Key + R to bring up the Run prompt. Type “dxdiag” (without quotes) and press the Enter key. Click the Display or Display 1, and Display 2 if available, tab from the panel view in the DirectX window. For Windows 8.1/10 look for Feature Levels.
Starting April 28th, you will no longer be able to run #Roblox if you are using a Windows PC running Microsoft DirectX 9. To continue playing on Roblox, you will need to upgrade to Microsoft DirectX 10 or above. Microsoft DirectX 9 is typically only on PCs running on older software, such as Windows 98 and Windows XP.
DirectX provides the interface to access the frame buffer and advanced features of the graphics card, which are not provided in the standard Windows GDI graphics interface. When DirectX was introduced, vendors quickly developed drivers that exposed low-level functions of their graphics hardware to the application.
Normally, if the current operating system you're running is Windows 10, you don't need to download DirectX 12, because it is an integral part of Windows 10. You can follow the instructions below to check which version of DirectX is installed on your PC: On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and type dxdiag.
DirectX is a suite of multimedia technologies required by many Windows games. If your PC doesn't have the right version of DirectX installed (the product box should tell you which one you need), your game might not work properly.
Now we know by how much: just by using DirectX, executives said, you'll see an additional 20 percent improvement in your graphics frame rate, and a drop in CPU utilisation to boot.
We at the DirectX team designed DirectX 11 to be the best API for game developers to use in their engines. Even though we shipped DX11 a decade ago, for many games it's still a great option.
Games run the DirectX installer, often in the background, which installs any required libraries and repairs any problems on the system. The DirectX installer is also the only way Microsoft allows developers to distribute these files.
Most antivirus programs identify DirectX.exe as malware—e.g. Kaspersky identifies it as not-a-virus:RiskTool.
DirectX is a series of application programming interfaces (API) that provide low-level access to hardware components like video cards, the sound card, and memory. If that sounded too complex, let's break things down. At a basic level, DirectX allows games to "talk" to video cards.
DirectX is a safe driver that won't do any harm to your computer. You will have to be careful when installing as Microsoft will try and slip in a Bing toolbar with the installation. For your protection, follow the steps above and download DirectX from the official Microsoft site.
The advantage is that higher versions of DirectX sometimes enable the developer to use alternative methods to calculate certain things in the game (a simple case would be e.g. geometry shaders for sprites, GUI, etc. on the screen, which isn't possible in DX9), which can give you considerable performance increases.
DirectX is a set of components in Windows that allows software, primarily and especially games, to work directly with your video and audio hardware. Games that use DirectX can use multimedia accelerator features built-in to your hardware more efficiently which improves your overall multimedia experience.
Valve has explained why Steam installs DirectX every time you install a different game - even an old one from years ago. It's not an error, nor is it to do with checking that your DirectX installation is up to date. Rather, it's to do with how Microsoft packages the software.
One of the core advantages of low-level APIs like DirectX 12 and Vulkan is improved CPU utilization. Traditionally with DirectX 9 and 11 based games, most games only used 2-4 cores for the various mechanics: Physics, AI, draw-calls, etc. Some games were even limited to one. With DirectX 12 that has changed.
The advantage is that higher versions of DirectX sometimes enable the developer to use alternative methods to calculate certain things in the game (a simple case would be e.g. geometry shaders for sprites, GUI, etc. on the screen, which isn't possible in DX9), which can give you considerable performance increases.
Vulkan is faster than DirectX In one-for-one matchups, Vulkan simply outperforms DirectX. I tested four games that support Vulkan and DirectX to measure the differences in performance. Note that a lot of games use one or the other, and some games use both for different things.

If you get a message that your graphics are out of date, but your computer passes the minimum specification requirements, you can check to see if the application is running in compatibility mode. Right click the Roblox or Roblox Studio application, and select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab.
It's possible your graphics card can't support 3D rendering at the color quality you use for normal desktop operation. You can try lowering the bit depth to 16 bits, to see if that helps.
Android: Android 5.0 or later is required. Internet requirements. Roblox requires a minimum of a 4-8 Mb/s internet connection. If you experience problems and are currently connected to your phone company's 3G or 4G network, please try connecting through WiFi instead for a faster and more stable connection.
According to a help article, these are the currently supported devices and required operating systems for a mobile device running Roblox: Apple iOS: iPad 2 or higher, iPhone 4s or higher, and iPod touch 5th Generation. iOS 9 or greater is required. Android: The Roblox application supports Android OS 5.0 and higher.
Play Sound. Roblox runs well on most modern computers, but performance will be dependent on the game that the user is playing. Things like part count, graphics settings, and others will play a role in the performance of the game.
For Windows 8/8.1 you will need to run Roblox in Desktop Mode, as Metro Mode (the tiled start-screen) is not currently supported. Mac: Roblox Client will install on 10.7 (Lion) and higher whereas the Roblox Studio will install on Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan) and above.
