The standard practice is when the Player hits an NPC with a weapon or projectile, you add a “creator” tag with the players name in. When the NPC dies, you check the tag and give the points to the correct player. I think the Roblox Sword has the right basic scripts to help you do this:

I wanted to make a sword that can only kill NPC. The sword is the Roblox Classic Sword. I changed the NPC’s humanoid name to “NPC”, and changed the sword script from “Humanoid” to “NPC”.
You could put a Value inside the NPC called “NPC” then when the sword touches something, you will check if a value named “NPC” is inside the model. If there is a value then do the damage to the NPC however if it doesn’t find the NPC value then it wont do damage because it was not an NPC.
