Sadly you can't negate meshes or edit meshes their vertices in Roblox studio. You can download blender and change the mesh there or rebuild the walls with parts.

The UnionOperation combines parts together into a single solid model. To use it, select the parts you want to combine and click the Union button in the Model tab. Unions are useful when you want to make small objects of the same material, plus they are quite reliable. I use unions for details on buildings, or stuff like furniture, it just makes it feel cleaner for me without the overlapping parts.
Grouping won't help with lag. What I do recommend is turning your unions and parts into meshes. That will reduce lag. It's really, really easy to do so.
All basic parts in Roblox have minimal physical properties that needed to be stimulated, while Unions comes in infinite amount of shapes, when you create a Union, Roblox would need to make physical calculations accurate for your game, which can drastically decrease performance.
It's not a virus. I have the same problem. It automatically welds parts in Roblox Studio for me. If it is a virus, try checking your plugins.
