Roblox was founded in 2004. The founders were David Baszucki and Erik Cassel. The main headquarters are located in San Mateo, California. The first couple hundred builders of Roblox were all developers, investors, testers, and friends of the founders.

One of the most notorious updates that was discussed at the Roblox Rally 2011 was the new Roblox terrain. Tickets were sold for $10.00, and participants who were under the age of 12 had to attend with someone over the age of 16.
Roblox then responded by taking the site down for maintenance in order to resolve the issues with the site. The site returned on April 2 and on sometime around April 4, all users who were involved in the hacking were terminated and IP banned in precaution of any further attacks.
The second convention was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center on July 14, 2012. The convention was named the ROBLOX Game Conference 2012. Players who attended the event received a poster and a lanyard, plus extra items if they purchased tickets before certain dates.
Roblox badges were added on December 22, 2006. In March 2007, Roblox became compliant with COPPA, with the addition of safe chat, a chat mode which limited users under the age of thirteen to communicating by selecting predefined messages from a menu. Roblox’s release on PC and Xbox One became a release for the whole world. In fact, in the early days of the release, the game was quite popular everywhere around the globe. However, it gained massive popularity only half a year later, when popular YouTube bloggers began playing the game and recording it for their audience.
During the early 2000s, Erik Cassel and David Baszucki decided they wanted to create a video game together. They set out to begin working on the said game and by 2004, they released the first draft of Roblox, which was known by the name DynaBlocks back then.
In September 2006, the game was officially released to the general public on PC under its more well-known name of Roblox. The game was first released to mobile devices on iOS in 2012. In 2015, Roblox was then launched to Xbox One consoles. Most recently, VR compatibility with the Oculus Rift was created in 2016.
